Kjersti Haraldsdatter Ormsrud was born February 11, 1837 at Hedalen, Valdres, Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway to Harald Haagensen and Olaug Tidemandsdatter.
She was baptized on February 26, 1837 at Valdres, Hedalen, Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway. Birth/baptismal record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, 1825-1840. Parents and sponsors listed.
Kjersti married Christoffer Christoffersen Goplerud (b December 11, 1830 Oppland, Norway, d 1921 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) on March 30, 1862 at Hedalen, Valdres, Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway.
The couple had three children in Norway:
Christopher Christoffersen Goplerud (b December 30, 1862 Goplerud, Hedalen, Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway, d August 2, 1936 Otranto, Mitchell, Iowa);
Harald Christoffersen Goplerud (b April 3, 1864 Goplerud, Norway, d January 2, 1945 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa) and
Guri Christoffersdatter Goplerud (b December 29, 1865 at Goplerud, Norway, d September 29, 1955 Portland, Clackamas, Oregon).
The family of five left Norway in 1866 to emigrate to Dane County, Wisconsin.
A daughter, Olina was born on August 26, 1867 at Dane, Wisconsin (Olina died November 19, 1946 at Minneapolis, Minnesota).
Two years later, in 1869, the family of six left Wisconsin to move west to a farm in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa where four more children were born:
Ingeborg (b May 9, 1869 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, d January 22, 1951 Greencastle, Putnam, Indiana);
John (b December 22, 1870, d August 11, 1936 Santa Monica, Los Angeles, California);
Anne Christine (b December 15, 1874, d August 22, 1875 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa) and
Syver Godfred (b March 12, 1881, d May 4, 1881 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa).
