Frances Kleckner, age 96, of St. Ansgar, died Monday, March 9, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society, St. Ansgar.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a Scripture Service at 6:00 p.m.
Frances was born October 31, 1918, at her home near Osage, Iowa. Her parents were J.A. “Bert” Rogers and Minnie (Schmidt) Rogers. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Osage. Frances attended rural school and graduated from Osage High School in 1936. She taught at rural schools in Mitchell County for three years.
Frances married Robert Kleckner of St. Ansgar on June 1, 1939. They farmed in Mitchell County for 40 years, living on the farm until 1990, when they moved to St. Ansgar. They enjoyed spending winters in California and Mesa, Arizona, for 20 years. Frances enjoyed being a mother and homemaker. She served as President of the Sacred Heart Guild in Osage and as President of the Rosary Society at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church, where she also taught religion for many years. She served on the St. Ansgar School Board for six years.
Frances was a member of the St. Ansgar Good Samaritan Home Auxiliary and spent many years as a volunteer at the home. Since her husband’s death in 1997, she had continued to live in St. Ansgar. She enjoyed her family and friends and especially liked bridge.
Frances is survived by her children, Sandra Anderson of Antioch, Illinois, Jean (Jim) White of Fullerton, California, Douglas (Lisa) Kleckner of St. Ansgar, Carolyn (Kelly) Williams of Austin, Minnesota, Bruce (Joan) Kleckner of Fresno, California; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a son, Gary; son-in-law, Lynn Anderson; one grandson, James Peter Kleckner; three great-grandchildren in infancy; two brothers, John and Bernard Rogers; and two sisters, Erna Schultheis and Romana Howe.
