Marlys E. Christiansen, age 75, of Osage, died Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Marlys was born July 13, 1939, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Ira and Erna (Grose) Jenkins. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1957. On August 21, 1960, she married Clifford Christiansen at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Marlys worked as a cook at Osage Community Schools for 25 years. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Marlys held several positions in the Christian Women’s Organization and attended the Miriam Circle. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years, and also taught religion class on Wednesday evenings at Comp Systems in Osage.

Marlys was also a scout leader. She enjoyed doing crafts and cross stitch to be given away, caring for her beloved pets, attending school activities, and watching Cliff fish. Marlys enjoyed spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed her grandchildren.

Marlys is survived by her husband, Cliff Christiansen of Osage; her children, Brian (Bonnie) Christiansen of Slayton, Minnesota, Brenda (Larry) Vore of Sioux City, Carrie (Glen) Barker of Osage, and Corey (Kathy) Christiansen of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin; eleven grandchildren, Rachel (Luke) Isder of Fulda, Minnesota, and Matthew (Melissa) Christiansen of Rapid City, South Dakota, Joseph Vore of Chicago, Illinois, Chris Vore of Sioux City, Tim Vore of Marathon, and Larry Vore, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois, Brandon Barker of Ames, Brett Barker and Breana Barker, both of Osage, Riley Christiansen and Jadee Christiansen, both of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin; great-grandson, Grant Isder of Fulda, Minnesota; sister, Sylvia Bustamantes of Alma, Arkansas; and many nieces and nephews.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brent Christiansen; brother, Mayo Jenkins; and niece, Sandra Bustamantes.
