Edvard Larson (Nelson) Odden was born November 26, 1858 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Lars Nelson Odden and Olea Olsdatter Teigen, the fifth of their nine children.
Edvard was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and confirmed on October 11, 1874 at RCLC.
Found in the 1860 and 1870 censuses living on his father's farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1860: Lars Nelson 39, Olea Nelson 36, Martha Nelson 8, Nelsolars Nelson 5, Edward Nelson 1, Gabriel Nelson 3 mos.
1870: Lewis Nelson 40, Olea Nelson 40, Olavis Nelson 14, Martha Nelson 18, Edward Nelson 11, Gabriel Nelson 9, Carl Nelson 5, Ole Nelson 3, Han D Nelson 2.
About 1880, Edvard moved to homestead land at Lien, South Dakota and changed his surname from Nelson to Odden. He married a Laura (surname unknown, Find A Grave #134438292) before 1910 at South Dakota. They had no children (she had a daughter before their marriage).
Found in the 1900 - 1930 censuses at Lien, Roberts, South Dakota:
1900: Edward Odden age 41.
1910: Edward N Odden 50, Laura Odden 28, Maznheld Odden 6, Alma Hensrud 21, Emel Anderson 29.
1920: Edward N Odden 61, Laura Odden 38, Magnhild Odden 16 stepdaughter (born in Norway) Says he is truck farming.
1930: Edward N Odden 71, Laura A Odden 49.
Edvard Odden died August 11, 1937 at Roberts, South Dakota and was buried at the New Effington Cemetery, New Effington, Roberts, South Dakota.
There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #134438281 with 2 photos of his gravestone.
