Earl “Bree” Bruesewitz, age 88, of Osage, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at the Faith Home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
“Bree” was born September 6, 1926, at Grafton to William and Ella (Heckstein) Bruesewitz. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton. He graduated from Grafton High School in 1944. “Bree” married Dora Niles on October 10, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple had two sons, Darwin and Dean.
In 1952 Bruesewitz leased the old Sinclair station at 1231 East Main. He built a new Sinclair station at 1301 East Main in 1957, which he continued to operate until 1967. Then he owned and operated Bree’s Oil Company until 1983. After their retirement, they spent summers at their lake home in Minnesota.
Bruesewitz was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Osage Chamber board. “Bree” was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan and also enjoyed fishing and bowling. For many years, he sponsored a bowling team.
“Bree” is survived by his wife, Dora; their sons, Darwin (Jeannine) of Isle, Minnesota, and Dean (Ruby) of Orchard; four grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Jeff, and Jana; three great-grandchildren, Gavyn, Madeline, and Melanie; a brother, Don (Rose) of Mesa, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer; a sister, Melba.
