Funeral services for Kathy D. Johnson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeRoy, Minn., with the Rev. Thomas Kolden officiating. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock, Iowa.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeRoy and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Kathy D. Johnson, 54, of Riceville, died Thursday (March 16, 2006).

Kathlene Dora Seeley was born on August 12, 1951, in Danville, Illinois, to Merle and Delores (Kuykendall) Seeley. She graduated from high school in Charles City.

On Feb. 14, 1970, Kathy married David Johnson at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Marble Rock. To this union two sons were born, Russell and Michael.

Kathy enjoyed traveling, shopping, and camping. Each year she looked forward to the July 4th camping trip at Lake Hendricks with her family and she recently went on a cruise to the Dominican Republic and in previous years she went to Hawaii and Cancun.

She liked crosses, angels, cats, roses, teddy bears, quilting, and cross stitch. Kathy was a member of the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church and was very involved in the church. She loved jewelry, especially pearls, and had a collection of spoons.

Kathy loved making her family happy, and she really loved her children.

She is survived by her husband, David Johnson, of Riceville; two sons, Russell (Vanessa) Johnson of Riceville and Michael Johnson, residing at home; her mother, Delores Petersen and her stepfather, Dennis, of Mason City; three sisters-in-law, Georgene (Jim) Johnson of Allison, Cathy Kruse (Gary Schmidt) of Marble Rock and Janice Johnson of Sioux City; nephews and nieces, Mathew, Melissa and Marc Johnson, Andrew (Samantha) Kruse, Gary Schmidt Jr., Rebecca Johnson, Bradley Johnson and Brandon Johnson; and a grandniece, Ashley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Merle Seeley; father-in-law, Andie Johnson; mother-in-law, Marvel Johnson; five brothers-in-law, Randie Johnson, Dennis Johnson, Eugene Johnson, Terry Johnson and John Kruse.

RICEVILLE - A 54-year-old woman died Thursday from injuries sustained when a farm truck backed over her.

Kathlene Johnson of rural Riceville was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Howard County Sheriff's Department, David Johnson, 55, the woman's husband, called authorities at 3:30 p.m.

When officials arrived at the scene about five miles northeast of Riceville, they learned that David Johnson was backing a feed truck and reportedly did not notice his wife was in its path.

A Howard County medical examiner went to the scene and an autopsy is scheduled as required by law when a fatality occurs at a work site.
