Funeral arrangements are pending at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S., Northwood.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Deer Creek Lutheran Church, 4598 Zinnia Ave., Carpenter, with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Woodbury Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the church.

Obituary for Mrs. R. Geraldine Koch
R. Geraldine “Geri” Koch, 96, Saint Ansgar, died Monday, October 20, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society in Saint Ansgar.
A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church, 4598 Zinnia Ave, rural Carpenter, Iowa with Pastor Lance Kittleson officiating. Inurnment will be in the Woodbury Cemetery, Lyle, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at the church.
Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, is in charge of the local arrangements.
Geri was born on June 16, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Viola (Doyle) Harmon. Geri graduated from Hampton High School in 1936, and attended Iowa State Teacher’s College (UNI) in Cedar Falls. Geri taught country school in the rural Hampton area.
She was united in marriage to Albert B. Koch on February 28, 1941. Geri was a dedicated farm wife and mother of three children. Geri worked in the dry goods section of JC Penney Company in Austin, Minnesota for several years. Geri and Albert farmed north of Beeds Lake until 1958, when they moved to rural St. Ansgar and farmed northwest of Otranto until retiring in 1975. Albert and Geri traveled extensively throughout the United States while visiting their children. They also traveled to Austria. After Albert’s death, Geri took a bus trip to Nova Scotia. Upon their retiring to Otranto, Geri was known for her beautiful flowers and garden. Her love of growing anything was evident in her life as beautiful plants and flowers always surrounded her.
Inspired by her mother’s love of art, Geri created many beautiful oil, water color, and chalk paintings and even while at Good Sam, she did a sketch of the birds at her birdfeeder. Another expression of her artistic ability was the many numerous rag rugs that she and Albert made. She also created many lovely quilts for her family just like her mother had done.
Left to cherish her memory are her twin daughters, Veronica (Dennis) Ziegler of Eagle River, Alaska, Virginia (Patrick) Halvorsen of Fallbrook, California, and son Dennis (Rhonda) Koch of rural St. Ansgar; sister-in-law, Delores Niess of Osage; brother-in-law, Henry Veirkant; six grandchildren, Ron Norman, Michelle Taylor, Jason Ziegler, Jenith Flynn, and Grant and Kindra Koch; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews; other extended family members and friends.
Geri was preceded in death by an infant son; her parents, brother, Ralph Harmon and her husband Albert.
