OSAGE, IOWA - Blanche Gertrude Buhr, 91, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2014 at Osage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Osage, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Covenant Fellowship Church, 2098 335th St. Osage, Iowa. Lunch to follow service. Burial will be at Maple Leaf Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elma, Iowa.
Blanche was born May 14, 1923 in Groveland, New York to Walter and Mary Smith. She married Raymond Buhr on December 24, 1981. Blanche spent her working career as a professional photographer and photo colorist. She was known for taking people into her home and caring for them, volunteering at the Midwest Mission Bible Training Center in Cresco and being an awesome prayer warrior. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by stepchildren Orlin (Carol) of Marion, Gene (Cindy) of Albert Lea, Minn., Conrad (Faye) of St. Paul, Minn., Audrey (Greg Thurlow) of Bozeman, Mont. and Karla (Roger) Brannaman of Marshalltown, and brothers Arthur (Artie) Smith of Bronx, N.Y. and Sidney Smith of Naugatuck, Conn.
She was proceeded in death by husband Raymond, parents Walter and Mary Smith, brothers Walter, Al, Jack and Roy Smith, and sisters Mable (Smith) Enright and Rose (Smith) Getman.
