Gulbrand (Gilbert) Olsen Lindley was born August 5, 1865 at Nedre Lindelien, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway to Ole Olsen Lindelien and Kari Hansdatter Enger. He was baptized on September 3, 1865 at Aadal. Birth/baptismal record at the Norwegian Digital Archives for Adal, Oppland, Norway, 1857-1883, page 45, entry #55.
Gulbrand left Norway with his parents and siblings to emigrate to Iowa in April of 1869. Emigration record found in the Norwegian Digital Archives for Adal, Buskerud, Norway, 1857-1883. Left Norway April 6, 1869: Ole Olsen Lindelien 39; Kari Hansdatter 33; Ole 10; Hans 6; Gulbrand 4; Torvald 2 and Kari 8.
He was confirmed on April 24, 1881 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Gulbrand never married, no children. He preferred the first name of Gilbert.
Found in the 1870 - 1900 censuses living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:

1885: Oley Lindly 55, Carrie Lindly 50, Oley Lindly 24, Hans Lindly 20, Carra Lindly 22, Gilbert Lindly 18, Tom Lindly 15, Levi Lindly 12, Henry Lindly 9.
1895: Gilbert Lindley age 29.

Found in the 1920 census at Nevis, Hubbard, Minnesota: Gilbert Lindley age 52.
Found in the 1930 census at Armstead, Beaver, Montana: Gilbert Lindley age 60, renting a room, working as a laborer.
Found in the 1940 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Gilbert Lindley 74, Tom Lindley 72.
Gilbert O Lindley died June (13th?) 1951 at Nora Springs, Floyd, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Mason City Globe Gazette, June 14, 1951: "Longtime Resident of Osage Succumbs" - Gilbert Lindley, long time resident of Osage, died at the Norby nursing home at Nora Springs on Thursday morning. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Osage Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.
There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #62769268.
