Lee Wright Julius, age 88, of Mason City, Iowa, and formerly of Riceville, Iowa, died Thursday, August 7, 2014, at Good Shepherd Health Center in Mason City.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 11, 2014, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Mark Lavrenz of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Mason City officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery at Little Cedar. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.
Lee was born March 3, 1926, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Wright and Dora (Grose) Julius. At the age of 12, they moved to Little Cedar, where he attended school. He graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1944.
Lee was united in marriage to Delia Stout on December 23, 1945, and to this union was born two children, Ronnie and Kathy. They farmed from 1945 until 1959, and then moved into Riceville, where he worked as a car salesman at A & H Motors and sold Ford cars for 30 years. When A & H Motors closed, Lee worked as a clerk in A G Motor Mart in Riceville, until moving to Mason City. Lee was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and served as an usher at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. He was currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City. One of his greatest joys in his life was spending time with his family.
Lee is survived by his wife of 68 years, Delia Julius of Mason City; his son, Ron (Helena) Julius of Mason City; his daughter, Kathy Welch (friend, Bill) of McIntire; two grandchildren, Ryan (Heather) Welch of Northwood and Nate (April) Welch of Grimes; four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Sydney Welch, the children of Ryan and Heather, and Finley and Scarlett Welch, the children of Nate and April; brother, Larry (Ruth) Julius of Riceville; and sister, Janice Canny of Lake Mills.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Verla Kindschuh, Joann Thome and Alta Counsell.
