Mathias “Math” Miller – September 14, 1894 – May 9, 1975

Math Miller was born September 14, 1894, at Stacyville, Iowa, the son of John and Anna (Klapperich) Miller. On January 14, 1920, he married Katherine King at Stacyville. He was engaged in farming in the Johnsburg and Adams area most of his life. He was a World War I veteran.

He passed away at his home on May 9, 1975. He is survived by four sons, Vincent of Adams, Elmer and Herman of Leroy, Marvin of Taopi; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence J (Angela) Hackenmiller of Yakima, Wash., Mrs. Paul (Gertrude) Gilles of Waterloo, Ia., Mrs. Ralph (Joanne) Milbrandt of Osage, Ia., Mrs. Peter (Ann) Schaefer of McIntire, Iowa. Also surviving are 65 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Susie Miller of Stacyville and Mrs. Lena Krebsbach of Sacred Heart Hospice at Austin.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 May 12, 1975 at the St. John's Catholic Church at Johnsburg, Minn., with Father Mountain and Father Russell officiating. The military escort was provided by the American Legion of Adams, Post 146.
Interment was in St. John's cemetery with six grandsons, Don Gilles, Gene Miller, Ron Hackenmiller, Craig Miller, Dale Miller and Kevin Miller serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Degen, Oscar Bergene, Lawrence Lewison and Art Nagel, World War I veterans.
