(Died June 12, 2014)
Virginia Lynn Betow, age 77, of Osage and formerly of St. Ansgar, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
A prayer service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Charles Owens officiating. Inurnment will be at the St. Ansgar Cemetery following the prayer service.
Virginia was born August 28, 1936, on the family farm near Saratoga, Iowa, the daughter of Jonas and Julia (Torney) Priestley. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1955. Virginia married Leighton Betow at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. She was employed by Art’s Shoes in Osage and the city of St. Ansgar. She had been a member of Wa-Tan-Ye and bible groups. Before her body began to fail, Virginia read the bible cover to cover. She did latch hook and crocheted afghans to give to her family and friends.
Virginia is survived by her sisters, Martha Priestley, and Jeannie (Ed) Parcel, all of Osage; nephew, Brandon (Jessie) Parcel of Osage; and several nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leighton Betow in 1994; and her brother, David Priestley.
