Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Robert Lawrence Schnepper was born April 7, 1931, the son of Emil and Minnie (Miller) Schnepper. He attended Riceville schools. Robert was baptized and confirmed in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville, where he was a life-long member. He was gifted working with his hands and taught himself how to fix almost anything. He grew up and worked on the family farm south of Riceville, a place he would call home his whole life.

On July 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Elaine Trout at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. Together they had three children, Sandra, Merry and Randy.

Robert was resourceful and worked many different jobs to provide for his family -- Leonard’s Hatchery, Decker Meat Packing, tiling and many years in construction with Grupp Construction, Welp and McCarten, Weaver Construction and Martin Marietta Materials. He retired from Martin Marietta Materials in 1996.

After retiring Bob spent more time enjoying family and traveling. He liked fishing, growing roses and playing with his dog(s). Bob loved breakfast, Saturday night steaks and Sunday night popcorn.

He is survived by two children, Sandra Loftin of Riceville, and Randy (Barbara) Schnepper of Rosemount, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Michael Lifka, Dawn (Jim) Adams, Kenneth Lifka, Erin Schnepper and Richard Schnepper; six great-grandchildren, Conner Lifka, Chase (Katie) Pals, Mackenzie Krones, Tara Adams, Alexis Adams and Tristan Clapp.

He is preceded in death by Evelyn, his wife of 58 years; his parents, Emil and Minnie Schnepper; two half-brothers, Frank Schnepper and Carl Schnepper; daughter, Merry Eckmann; son-in-law, Steven Eckmann; and grandson, Brandon Eckmann.

Memorials can be directed to the Riceville Family Care Center.
