ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Kuper Dean Malmin, 5, of St. Ansgar died on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Osage, Iowa. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, St. Ansgar. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar and one hour prior to service at the church.
Kuper was born on April 27, 2009 to Kyle and Brandi (Hansen) Malmin in Mason City, Iowa. Kuper had just celebrated his 5th birthday with cake, ice cream and a movie with friends at the movie theater and of course he had to sit in the front row. Kuper loved his brother, his partner in crime, even though there was a two year difference they were inseparable twins. Kuper loved his sisters so much, he never stopped picking on them.
Kuper attended preschool until 11:15 a.m. at St. Ansgar Elementary School. Afternoons were spent with his dad at the family hardware store where he loved greeting people and showing them the minnows. The evenings were spent playing outside, playing with Legos and trucks. Kuper was such a proud little boy, he had almost mastered riding a bike without training wheels. The nights were spent as mommy’s cuddle bug. When Kuper grew up he wanted to be a fireman like his daddy.
Kuper’s short life with us has touched so many people, whether family, friend or customer at the hardware store. Kuper’s goofy faces and silliness will be with us forever.
Kuper is survived by his parents; Kyle and Brandi Malmin; siblings Izzy (8), Kamen (6) and Pyper (3); grandparents, Kevin and Nancy Malmin, Steve and Angie Hansen, Margie Kline and friend Craig Zoellner; great grandparents, Laurie Nack Bublitz, Elaine Hansen and Gerald Joseph; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
