Veronica Mary (Kiefer) Heimer Quinn – May 2, 1922 – January 30, 2005
Veronica Quinn, age 82, of Austin, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at the Austin Medical Center.
Veronica was born May 25, 1922 in Adams, MN to William and Elizabeth (Sabel) Kiefer. On January 21, 1941 she was united in marriage to Fred Heimer. They farmed for several years near Stacyville, IA. Following Fred's death in 1969, Veronica moved into Stacyville and worked as an aide in the Stacyville nursing home. On August 21, 1973 she was united in marriage to Vincent Quinn. He passed away in 1980.
After her retirement in 1986, Veronica moved to the Twin Towers in Austin where she resided at the time of her death. As a resident of the Twin Towers for more than eighteen years she was active in bake sales, monthly mass, bingo, Semcac meals, cards, and community dinners.
Survivors include three sisters: Celeste Prehatney, Austin, Kay Schmidt, Austin, Mary Kreitinger, Winter Haven, FL; a brother: Vernon (Priscilla) Kiefer, Adams; two sisters-in-law: Ardella (Roy) Kiefer, St. Charles, MN; and June (Paul) Kiefer, Kirbyville, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, parents, four brothers: Roy, William, Fred, and Paul, two sisters: Angela and Bernice.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 5 pm CCW rosary and a 6 pm wake service on Wednesday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 5-8 pm and also one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville, IA.
The honorary casket bearers will be Tina Kiefer, Jolene Nelson, Cathi Schmidt, Patty Schmidt, Sue Kiefer, Sherry Dorenkemper, and Julie Schmidt. The casket bearers will be Ron Schmidt, Dave Kiefer, Vern Kiefer, Bill Schmidt, Dave Schmidt, Tom Kiefer, Steven Schmidt, Terry Schmidt, Lenny Kiefer, and Tony Schmidt Jr.
