Olavus (Olaus) Johanson Johnsrud was born December 10, 1870 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to John Olsen Johnsrud and Kari Olsdatter Lindelien, the fifth of their six children and the second son named Olaus or Olavus (both found). His older brother Olaus had died at the age of 7 earlier in 1870.
Olavus was baptized on January 29, 1871 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. He was confirmed at RCLC on July 18, 1886.
Olavus married Nora Victoria Petersdatter Borsheim on September 4, 1893 at the First Lutheran Church at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
The couple had three children while living in Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa: Orlea Violeta; Stella Clara and Jennings Palmer.
Found in the 1880 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: John Oleson 50, Carrie Oleson 51, Carrie Oleson 18, Anna Oleson 13, John Oleson 11, Ole Oleson 9, Peter Oleson 7.
They moved to Minnesota where their 4th child was born, Orin Linton. Found in the 1900 census at Fertile, Polk, Minnesota: Olavus Johnsrud 29, Nora Johnsrud 26, Orlioa Johnsrud 5, Stella Johnsrud 4, Jennings Johnsrud 2.
The family next moved to Montana. Found in the 1910 census at Great Falls, Cascade, Montana: Oliver Johnsrud 39, Nora V Johnsrud 36, Orlie V Johnsrud 15, Stella Johnsrud 13, Jennings Johnsrud 11, Orvin Johnsrud 9.
Found in the 1920 census at Dist # 12, Sweet Grass, Montana: Olavus Johnson 49, Nora Johnson 46, Jenning Johnson 21, Oran Johnson 19.
Found in the 1930 census at Fort Benton, Chouteau, Montana: Olavus J Johnsrud 59, Nora V Johnsrud 56, Orin Johnsrud 29, Edith Johnsrud 23. Says he was born in Minnesota. Says he is an implement salesman.
Found in the 1940 census at Great Falls, Cascade, Montana: Oleana J Johnsrud 69, Nora V Johnsrud 66.
Olavus died June 4, 1953 at Cascade, Cascade, Montana and is buried at the Highland Cemetery, Great Falls, Cascade, Montana.
