Karen Johansdatter Heggerustad/Heggerusta

Karen Johansdatter Johnsrud was born January 30, 1862 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, to John Olesen Johnsrud and Kari Olsdatter Lindelien. She was baptized in February of 1862 by Gjertrud Uhlen into the Lutheran Faith, the service was held in a farmer's home as the nearest church was the First Lutheran at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and the Rock Creek Lutheran Church had not yet been built.

Karen was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1870 & 1880 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1870: Jno Oleson 40, Carrie Oleson 35, Carrie Oleson 8, Olons Oleson 6, Ann Oleson 4, Jno Oleson 2.

1880: John Oleson 50, Carrie Oleson 51, Carrie Oleson 18, Anna Oleson 13, John Oleson 11, Ole Oleson 9, Peter Oleson 7.

Karen married Gulbrand Hansen Heggerusta (Heggerustad) probably about 1895/96. (Gulbrand was born March 11, 1864 at Neseie, Aadal, Buskerud, Norway and died November 11, 1935 at Walsh County, ND). The couple had 2 daughters, Malla and Hilda.

Family found in the 1920 - 1930 censuses at Kinloss, Walsh, North Dakota:
1920: Gubrand H Heggerusta 55, Karan Heggerusta 57, Malla K Heggerusta 24, Hilda J Heggerusta 20, Andrew Flatbraaten 37.

1925: Karen Heggerusta 62.

1930: G. Heggerusta 66, Karen Heggerusta 67, Malla Heggerusta 34, Hilda Heggerusta 30, Andrew Flatbraaten 47.

Karen died October 18, 1936 at Walsh, North Dakota and was buried at the St Olaf Cemetery, Fairdale, Walsh, North Dakota.
