Ole Thorsten Jeglum was born February 2, 1847 at Hol, Hallingdal, Buskerud, Norway. Ole emigrated to Dane County Wis​consin before 1870.

Found listed as a freshman in 1870 at the University of Wisconsin; Perry, Dane, Wisconsin.

Also found in the 1870 census living at Perry, Dane, Wisconsin, single and a school teacher: Helge Toreson 33, Birgit Toreson 25, Ragnild T Toreson 5/12, Gunhild Areson 7, Ole Toreson 25, Ole Jeglum 22.

Ole married Guline​ Isabelle Lundene in 1871​ at Springdal, Wisconsin.

The couple moved to Clay County, Minnesota and had one child. They next bought land to farm in rural Rudd, Floyd Co, Iowa where seven more children were born.

The 8 children were:

Oline (Lena) (b December 1, 1872 Clay, MN, d June 19, 1918 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa);

Tilde Karoline (b August 14, 1874 Floyd, Iowa, d March 29, 1878 Floyd, Iowa);

Carl Albert (b March 25, 1877 Floyd, Iowa, d July 8, 1965 Long Beach, California);

Tilda Helene (b June 26, 1879 Floyd, Iowa, d March 4, 1956 Long Beach, California);

Henry Otis (b June 19, 1882 Floyd, Iowa, d June 22, 1963 Grand Forks, North Dakota);

Clarence (b June 5, 1885 Floyd, Iowa, d June 19, 1967 Long Beach, California);

Oliver Daniel (b October 22, 1888, d October 29, 1888 both at rural Floyd, Iowa) and

Oliver (b October 29, 1889 Floyd, Iowa, d October 30, 1958 Alameda, California).

Ole T Jeglum died March 31, 1889 at ru​ral Rudd, Floyd, Iowa and is b​uried at the Rock Creek Lu​theran Cemetery, Meroa​, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
