Florence L. Werner, age 84, of Osage, died Friday, January 31, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. Inurnment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Florence was born on May 1, 1929, in Burr Oak Township, rural Osage, the daughter of Brodie and Bertha (Carrison) Mitchell. She attended Osage High School. Florence was married to Clayton Werner on September 28, 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. She was a stay at home mom and a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Church. Florence volunteered at the hospital, and enjoyed bowling, fishing and flower gardening.

Florence is survived by her husband Clayton of 65 years. Her six children, Steve (Stella) Werner, of Pine City, Minnesota, Jean (Gary) Nation of Rushford, Minnesota, Sheila (Dean) Knecht of Kalona, Vickie (Robert) Mead of Elkton, Minnesota, Brenda (Allen) Burgess of Osage, and Laurie Warren of New Hampton.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter, two brothers, Clinton (Cleo) Mitchell of Osage, and Lester (Oma) Mitchell of Red Oak, Texas, and an aunt, Gladys Putnam of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Connie in infancy, two sisters, Mary Berge and Dorothy Elke, and two brothers, Lloyd and Charles Mitchell.
