SHRODE, SMITH, WORKMAN

RITES HELD FOR
CHAS. SHRODE

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for a Little Cedar resident, Charles Shrode, 94, who died Sunday evening at Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage. Mr. Shrode had undergone surgery.

Rev. D. Callen, pastor of the United Methodist church in Little Cedar, was in charge of the services there. C. R. Champion and Sons made the arrangements and burial was at Riverside cemetery, Riceville.

Charles Shrode was born on October 17, 1877, at McIntire, the son of Conrad and Barbara Workman Shrode.

Alice Smith of Chester and Charles Shrode were married on March 18, 1903. They farmed in the McIntire and Riceville areas. He worked at Iowa State University for two years. He lived with his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson at Little Cedar after retiring from the farm.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Johnson, Little Cedar, Ethel Shrode of Santa Barbara, California; two sons, Milton of Commerce City, Colorado, and Donald of Aurora, Colorado; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife; five sisters and two brothers.
