MRS. ROB’T BUTTOLPH DIES SUDDENLY FROM HEART ATTACK, NOVEMBER 17

Mrs. Robert Buttolph, 51, died suddenly in her home early Thursday morning, November 17, from a heart ailment. While Mrs. Buttolph had not been in good health for a long time, she had been about as usual and her death came as a great shock to family and friends.

Amelia Lena Funke was born March 8, 1898, on a farm near State Center, the daughter of Conrad and Johanne Funke, Sr. She was reared in State Center and lived there until 1919. She then moved with her parents to a farm near Le Roy, Minnesota.

In 1928, she was united in marriage with Robert C. Buttolph, at Riceville. To this union were born three children, Harold, Faye and Carl.

An infant son, Carl, preceded her in death in 1933; also five brothers, August, Henry, Charles, Ernest, Emil and a sister, Hilda.

Left to mourn her passing and they will miss her very much are her husband and two children, Harold and Faye; five brothers, Conrad, Jr., Clemons; Clarence and William; Le Roy, Minnesota; Albert, Marshalltown; four sisters, Mrs. John Klemas, Winnepeg, Canada; Mrs. Charles Wichael, State Center; Mrs. Harry Wolken, Marshalltown; Mrs. Harry Patterson, Waterloo; nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends, including Mr. and Mrs. George Harris, the latter a sister-in-law of Mrs. Buttolph. The two families had lived together for 20 years and farmed in partnership.

Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Free Methodist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Reverend Pettibone. Jo Ann Noble presided at the piano and accompanied a quartet, Mrs. Mervin Russell, Mrs. Ernest Asfahl, Don Asfahl and Merwin Noble, who sang several hymns.

Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
