Donald Lynn Hennigar .. July 17, 1920 – September 10, 2013
JEFFERSON: Donald Hennigar, 93, of Jefferson, died Sept. 10, at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
Burial will take place at a later date at Paton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson, with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the family.
Donald was born in 1920 in Rockford, Iowa. He held several jobs in his younger days until joining the Navy in 1942.
After his discharge he moved to Riceville and married Delores Buttolph. To this union nine children were born.
For most of his life he was a union truck driver, driving for: Stockbergers, Ace Lines, & Crouse. In 1982 he married Karma Temple. He enjoyed golfing, airplanes, & most of all his family.
Don is survived by his wife, Karma, of Jefferson, Iowa; his children: Cheryl (Arden) Thompson, Jackie (Denis) Foss, Mary Janice (Don) Nissen, Dale (Carol) Hennigar, Candice (late Robert) DeWitt, Timothy (Brenda) Hennigar, Mike (Denise) Hennigar, Scott (Denise) Hennigar, Donel (David) Feldt; grandchildren: Tami Vogel, Teri Cunningham, Jason Foss, Delora Brattrud, Bobbi Nissen, Alexis Kunz, Dalcy Lorentzen, Brett, Brooke, and Brandon DeWitt, Brittany Bruner, Amanda, Dustin and Cody Hennigar, Jessica Schrage and Jace Beachaine; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers: Loren, Joe, and Stanley Hennigar; Sister Betty Harris; other relatives and many friends.
