RITES HELD

Funeral services for Mrs. Gae Barker, 78, who died Thursday in Osage, were held Saturday at the United Methodist church. Mrs. Barker is a long-time resident here.

Rev. W. Gjerde, church pastor, was in charge of the rites, and arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.

Gae Murphy was born September 6, 1892, near New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Mintie Cummings Murphy. She attended rural schools and the Cedar Valley Seminary in Osage.

Lee Barker and Gae Murphy were united in marriage on August 26, 1914. They farmed in Burr Oak township before retiring in 1947 to Osage. Mr. Barker died in 1953.

Mrs. Barker was a member of the Women's Society of Christian Services of the United Methodist Church. She served as a nurses' aide at mitchell County Memorial hospital for 17 years, and had been a member of Eastern Star and the MI club.

Surviving are one son, Kent of Des Plaines, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Tidemanson (Zella) of Osage; ten grandchildren; 12 great-granchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Barker of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one son, Richard; one sister, Mrs. Roy Henderson (Grace), and three brothers, George, Walter and Guy Murphy.
