Edward “Tom” Thomas Fritcher February 29, 1920 – August 24, 2010

Edward "Tom" Thomas Fritcher, 90, of Lime Springs, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Regional Health Services of Howard County.

Tom was born on February 29, 1920 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, IA, the son of John Fritcher and Mozelle Wells Fritcher. Although Tom was 90 years old, he only celebrated 22 birthdays in his liftime. (LEAP YEAR 90!)

He completed school through the eighth grade in Mitchell, Iowa.

Tom was baptized and confirmed on December 22, 1953 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco, Iowa, and was currently a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Churchin Lime Springs, Iowa.

On April 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Sigrid Loden in Osage, Iowa.

The couple were lifetime farmers in the Cresco and Lime Springs area. In 1993 they sold the farm to their son Dave keeping the farm in the family. Although Tom was semi-retired he remained actively involved with the farming operation.

Tom enjoyed morning coffee and visiting with friends and an afternoon beer and visiting with friends again! He will be remembered for his friendly smile and the twinkle in his eyes!

The last 3 years he has made his home at the Cresco Care Center in Cresco, IA.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife Sigrid in 2001, his parents, two brothers, J.W. (Jack) and Dick

Tom is survived by his children Sandy (Gerald) Wallace of Estherville, IA, Dianne (Ben) Wyatt of Decorah, IA, Russ (Linda) Fritcher of Saratoga, IA, Dave (Ruthie) Fritcher of Lime Springs, IA, and Jean (Richard) Bowser of Chester, IA, 15 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Emma Seckar of Charles City, IA, one brother-in-law, Don Loden of Buffalo, WY, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA, and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lime Springs, IA.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, IA.
