OTRANTO RESIDENT BURIED THURSDAY
Funeral services were held for Mills Baker, 71, last week Thursday from the Baker home in Otranto and from the Otranto Community church. The Rev. W.F. Belding was in charge.
Mills Baker was born in Missouri in 1868 and passed away on March 27, 1939 at his home in Otranto after a lingering illness of about a year. In his youth he attended the public schools of the community where he lived and attended the Methodist church when it was possible.
On August 30, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Carberry. To this union one daughter was born, now Mrs. Galen Buringrud, living on a farm near Lyle, Minnesota.
For many years Mr. Baker followed the carpenter's trade and also did a good deal of road work. In 1898 the family moved west and returned to Otranto in 1913 where he has made his home ever since.
He is survived by his wife, his daughter, two brothers, Arthur of Springfield, Oregon and Harvey; two sisters, Mrs. Oura Ferguson, Lewiston, California, and Mrs. Ole Lund, Salem, Oregon. Seven grandchildren also survive.
Interment was made in the Ogden cemetery.
