Funeral services were held from Immanuel's Lutheran church last Friday afternoon at one o'clock for Mrs. Mathilda Sorensen, nee Struck, who died at her home Tuesday evening, January 10, 1939. Rev. Paul Brammer conducted the services.
Mrs. Mathilda Sorensen, nee Struck, was born September 25, 1874, near Myrtle, Minn. Here she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. She lived with her parents until the time of her marriage to Hans Sorensen on September 20, 1898. To this union was born one son, Harland.
After her marriage, the business of her husband required residence for various periods of time at Glenville and Myrtle, Minn. Lake Mills, Iowa and finally at St. Ansgar, which has been their home ever since 1916.
Mrs. Sorensen enjoyed good health until 1929 when she submitted to a goiter operation, following which she had a weak heart. A few weeks ago she had a severe cold from which she was making apparent recovery. Tuesday morning Mr. Sorensen awoke to find that she had suffered a stroke. She semed to be rallying from the stroke until last week Tuesday noon her heart began to fail and she passed away at seven o'clock that evening.
She had attained the age of 64 years, three months and 25 days. She is survived by her husband, her one son, a granddaughter, six brothers and four sisters.
