Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, 1987, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, for Carl C. Poulsen, 87, of Osage. Rev. R. Hubbard officiated and burial was in the Osage cemetery. Mr. Poulsen died on Wednesday, April 8, 1987, at the Maple Manor nursing home.
Mr. Poulsen was born on June 7, 1899 in Fyn, Denmark, to Lars and Sophia Poulsen. He came to the United States as a young man and worked as a farmhand. He then worked for several road construction contractors in the Midwest, including Jensen Road Construction, Sioux City.
He and Alvina Brookings were married in Riceville and the couple lived in the Riceville area for many years. Alvina died in 1976, and on May 27, 1978, he married Ruth Thompson of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his first wife; and his parents; one sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth of Osage; three stepchildren: Kenneth of Colorado Springs. Clarence of Napa, Calif., and Mrs. LaMar (Helen) Emerson of Little Cedar; one brother, George of Dakota City, Nebraska; two sisters, Karen Andersen and Martha Neilsen, both of Denmark; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Chaflen of Fairfax, Iowa, Mrs. Ella Scheidigger of Osage, and Mrs. Receile Wolfe of Green Acres, Washington; and nieces and nephews.
