Ida Mathilde Huset was born November 30, 1880 at Northfield, Jackson, Wisconsin to Ole Andreasen Huset and Kari Andersdatter Lundene, the third of their seven children. Ida lived with her parents in Wisconsin until her father's death in 1851 when her mother moved the family to Emmetsburg, Iowa and then to St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1900 census living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and working as a servant for a Byington family: Matilda Husit 19.

Mathilde married Johann Jacobsen Pedersen (or Peterson) (born January 30, 1865 Lacrosse, Wisconsin, died August 21, 1940 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa) abt 1904 at Mitchell County, Iowa and the couple lived on a farm in Rock Grove. They had 2 sons: Orin Jester (born 1904) and Milo J (born 1908).

Found in the 1910, 1915 censuses at Rock Grove, Floyd, Iowa:
1910: John J Peterson 45, Ida Mathilda Huset Peterson 29, Orin Jester Peterson 6, Milo J Peterson 2.
1915: Mathilda Peterson age 34.

Found in the 1930, 1940 censuses living at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa:
1930: John J Peterson 55, Ida M Peterson 49, Milo Peterson 22.
1940: John J Peterson 74, Matilda Peterson 59

Mathilde Peterson died in 1942 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
