LULU FAY DIES AFTER
LONG ILLNESS
AT HER HOMELulu S. Fay, daughter of George Milton and Louise Atkinson Fay, was born on July 9, 1867, at Freeport, Illinois. She was the second in a family of four children. She passed away on February 1, 1943, at her home in Osage, Iowa, after a two-year illness.
She came to Osage with her parents while yet a small girl. She grew up in this community, attended the public schools, and graduated from the local high school at the age of sixteen. Following her high school course she taught school for a short time.
On March 7, 1886, she united with the local Congregational church and has been a faithful, devoted and deeply interested member through the years. She was a charter member of the Harmony club and remained active until about two years ago. She was a member of the Missionary Society until that organization went out of existence a few years ago.
She was also a charter member of the D.A.R., and one of the oldest members of the P.E.O. In all of her affiliations she kept up an active connection as long as she was able. She had a great many friends and was much beloved in all her associations. She liked the best things in life; read good books, and fitted her beautiful home in rare, good taste.
She lived with her parents and cared for them until they passed away. Her father died on July 1, 1917, and her mother on August 1, 1927. She was also preceded in death by a sister who died in infancy, and a brother who died on June 16, 1885. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. W. G. Moss, of Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home at 2: p.m. by her pastor, the Rev. Stiles Lessly, with burial in the Osage Cemetery.
