Ole Olsen Haugen was born August 8, 1827 at Sondre Aurdal, Hedalen, Oppland, Norway to Ole Arnesen (or Andersen?) and wife.
He married Anna Haraldsdatter on March 31, 1856 at Sondre Aurdal, Hedalen, Oppland, Norway. Marriage record found at Norwegian Digital Archives on line for Hedal in Sor Aurdal, Oppland, Norway 1849-1876, page 131, entry #5. Ole Olsen age 28 yrs 6 mos; Anna Haraldsdatter age 29.
The couple had 7 children all born in Norway: Anna Olsdatter (born 1859);
Carrie Olsdatter (born November 1861);
Olia Olsdatter (born May 8, 1863, married Thomas Larson, died March 14, 1949 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);
Gunhild Olsdatter (born April 6, 1865, died July 28, 1927 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa);
Marith (born September 1, 1868, married Ole Larsen Wahl, died January 21, 1959 Mitchell, Iowa);
Harold Olesen (born December 9, 1870, died April 5, 1949 Mitchell County, Iowa) and
Nettie Olsdatter (born October 10, 1875, died April 8, 1950 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa).
The family emigrated 1878 to Mitchell County, Iowa.
Found in the 1880 - 1905 censuses living at Cedar Township, Mitchell Co, Iowa:
1880: Ole Olieson age 46, laborer, born in Norway; wife Anna age 42, keeping house, born in Norway, Harry Olieson age 9, born in Norway, Annethe, age 4 at home, born in Norway. (Adults' ages are in error)
1885: Ole C Hangen 56, Anna Hangen 56, Anna Hangen 26, Carrie Hangen 23, Lena Hangen 21, Julia Hangen 19, Marry Hangen 17, Harry Hangen 14, Nettie Hangen 8.
1900: Haral Hangen 30, Ole Hangen 72, Annie Hangen 73, Gulia Hangen 35, Nettie Hangen 24.
1905: Ole O Haugen, Anna, Julia, Harry, Nettie.
Ole died February 27, 1906 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
