Born: November 6, 1920
Died: June 15, 2013
(Age 92)

Harland was born on November 6, 1920 in rural St. Ansgar to Frank and Georgia (Zemanek) Libersky. He attended grade schools at Spring Valley and Pleasant Prairie, graduating from the St. Ansgar High School as Valedictorian in 1937.

On December 15, 1940 he married Cleo Leidall in Osage, Iowa. Harland worked at John Deere in Osage until 1942. In March of that year he was transferred to Kansas City as an Instructor in Aircraft Electrical Engines.

He was frozen from the Draft Board and promoted as an Army Administrator Procurement Inspector due to his abilities as a draftsman and artist in mechanical units. Due to medical reasons he was honorably discharged in March of 1944.

Harland and the family returned to St. Ansgar to work at John Deere Implement where he worked in service and sales. In 1955 he was employed by St. Ansgar State Bank. He retired as vice president in 1982 but continued as a director until his death.

He was a man of many talents and abilities; an artist in building clocks and repairing them, creating stain glass works, woodworking and music. He was also involved with many organizations, including 23 years as a volunteer for the Fire Department, involvement with the American Legion, Lions Club and Cribbage Club.

Most of all he will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His kind, gentle hearted spirit endeared him to all who knew him. His creative mind, determined and persistant attitude, his ability to make people laugh (Ole and Lena will miss him), bring thankful memories as we recall a man who was dearly loved.

Harland was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Mitchell Moen; three brothers, Howard, Harold and Kenneth.

He is survived by his wife Cleo; daughters: Patricia (Jim) Woody, Judi Thomsen, Geri Torkelson and Vonda (Dale) Blakestad; 11 grandchildren; 16 ½ great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
