OSAGE, IOWA — Kenneth “Kenny” Counsell, age 95, of Osage, died Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Duane A. Lookingbill officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with a Masonic Service by Osage Masonic Lodge 102 A.F. & A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be directed to Iowa Hospice, 18 E. Main St., Suite 2, New Hampton, IOWA 50659.
Kenny was born February 9, 1918, in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, the son of Harry and Edna (Angell) Counsell. He graduated from Osage High School and attended trade school in Chicago for one year. Kenny was a salesman for Rawleigh Products and McNess Products and delivered The Sunday Des Moines Register for many years. He was a member of the Conservation Club and Osage Masonic Lodge. Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching baseball and softball. His hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening.
Kenny is survived by his brother, Virgil (Dottie) Counsell of Osage; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Merlyn and Gene Counsell; and other relatives and friends.
