RITES MONDAY FOR
EMMA G. HABERKORNFuneral services were held on Monday afternoon for Mrs. Emma Haberkorn, 84, who died at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in St. Ansgar, Iowa, Saturday. Mrs. Haberkorn had been a resident of the rest home for five years.
The Rev. O. Hoven, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Emma G. Gunderson was born near St. Ansgar, Iowa, on July 12, 1886, the daughter of Erick and Louisa Helgeson Gunderson. As a young woman she studied nurses' training and practiced her profession until 1932 when she was united in marriage to Lewis Haberkorn. Their entire married life was spent in Osage.
Mrs. Haberkorn was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Bethany chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, a former Mitchell County sheriff who died June 5, 1970; her parents, four brothers and six sisters.
Surviving are 12 nieces and nephews.

#2:Emma Helena Gunderson was born July 12, 1886 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa to Erik Gunderson and Louisa Gunhilda Helgeson, the ninth of their eleven children. She was baptized August 29, 1886 and confirmed at the First Lutheran Church, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. She furthered her education and became a nurse.

1910: Ragnhild W. Halstensdatter Gunderson 58, Emma Helena Gunderson 23, Genia Josephine Gunderson 21.
1920: Albert Schmidt 32, Josephine Schmidt 31, Emma Gunderson 33, Emma Torgerson 46, Mabel Redalen 21.
1925: Emma Gunderson 39.
Emma married Lewis Haberkorn on June 5, 1928 at her parents' farm at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa. She and Lewis had no children.
Found in the 1930 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Lewis Haberkorn 42, Emma H Haberkorn 43.
Lewis Haberkorn served as Mitchell County, Iowa deputy and as sheriff for a number of years.
Emma Helena Gunderson Haberkorn died January 16, 1974 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Iowa.
