GULBRANDSEN, Iver 1808-1893

GULBRANDSEN, IVERSEN, OLSDATTER

Iver Gulbrandsen was born 1808 probably at Hedalen, Valdres, Norway.

Iver married Olaug Olsdatter in Norway. They had 2 sons:
Gulbrand (Gilbert) Iverson (born August 12, 1845 Norway, died September 19, 1932 Mitchell, Iowa) and
Ole Iverson (born January 1851 Norway, died October 11, 1921 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa).

Believe his wife, Olaug Olsdatter was born in Norway (date unknown) and she died before 1873 but do not know if she died in Norway or Wisconsin.

Iver and his 2 sons (and maybe his wife?) emigrated to Black Earth, Dane County, Wisconsin in 1865 and moved to Mitchell County, Iowa before 1873. Iver "Americanized" his surname to "Gilbertson".

Found Iver in the 1873 Rock Creek Lutheran Church Membership list.

Found in the 1880 & 1885 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Gilbert Gilbertson 35, Iver Gilbertson 72, widower.
1885: Gilbert J Gilbertson 36, Oley Everson (Iverson) 23, Iver Gilbertson 76.

Iver Gulbrandsen died 1893 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
