Johanne Gudbrandsdatter was born February 15, 1824 at Skiakerseiet, Hadeland, Norway to Gudbrand Hansen (born Gran, Hadeland, Norway) and Ronnouv Jacobsdatter (born Gran, Norway). (The RCLC Cemetery records state her birth as July 24, 1823).
Johanne had 3 sisters that I have found:
Dorthe (born 1820 Norway),
Anne (born March 7, 1822 Norway, died December 18, 1910 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Peder Larsen Framstad) and
Kari (born Decmeber 24, 1829 Norway).
Johanne married Guttorm Anderson on September 12, 1852 at Gran, Hadeland, Norway.
The couple had 5 children who were all born at Saugshagen, Gran, Hadeland, Norway:
Anders (born July 6, 1851);
Randi (Ragnild) B (born September 13, 1853, married Ole Halverson June 2, 1874 Norway, died 1917 Buffalo, Winnebago, Iowa);
Gubjorg (born February 28, 1857, married Johan Olson November 25, 1882 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa, died March 29, 1939 Mitchell, Iowa);
John Gerhard (born June 14, 1859, married Karen Gudbrandsdatter Liaeker March 6, 1885 at RCLC Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died August 26, 1916 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa) and
Christian Guttormsen (born September 16, 1862 Norway, died February 16, 1949 Range, Polk, Wisconsin).
Johanne and her husband Guttorm Anderson and their children emigrated to Iowa. They left Saugshagen farm at Gran, Hadeland, Oppland, Norway on May 7, 1874 and traveled on the ship "Oder". After arriving in the US, they traveled west to settle at Mitchell County, Iowa on farmland.
Found in the 1880 census living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: G. Anderson 51, Jane G. Anderson 57, Julia Anderson 22, John Anderson 20, Cris Anderson 16.
Found in the 1885 - 1900 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1885: Giton Mandison 54, Jenny Mandison 62, Christian Mandison 22, John Anderson 26, Carn Anderson 25, Gilbert Olson 8.
1895: Johane Anderson age 70.
1900: George Anderson 71; Johanne Anderson 76. Says she had 6 children, 4 living.
Johanne Gudbrandsdatter Anderson died August 14th (or 15th?), 1906 at Cedar township, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
