Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 17, 1986, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, for John Kloberdanz, Sr., 97, of Osage. He died Sunday, December 14, 1986, at an Osage nursing home. Rev. Leon Connolly will officiate and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, in Osage.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, with a rosary said at 7:30 on Tuesday, evening.

Mr. Kloberdanz was born on November 23, 1889 in Rothmal, Russia, to John and Christina (Frank) Kloberdanz. In 1907, he married Rose Lauer. Although he and his wife were raised in Russia, their parents were of German ancestry.

In 1911 the couple came to the United States, first to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, then to Topeka, Kansas, where Mr. Kloberdanz worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and farmed. The family moved to the Osage area in 1921 and purchased an acreage. They lived there until retiring and moving into Osage in 1943.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose; one son, Wenzel; one daughter, Peggy; and by his parents.

Survivors include four daughters: Madge Lechman of Manly, Mrs. Gordon (Leone) Niddrie of Summerset, Illinois, and Mrs. George (Rose) Marreel and Katie Arickz, both of Osage; four sons: Peter, John and Joseph, all of Osage, and Alex of Charles City; 34 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
