Christena Elizabeth (Gordon) Ramsay – September 22, 1865 – April 23, 1920
MRS. DAVID RAMSAY IS CALLED
PASSED AWAY AT HER HOME AT OTRANTO, FRIDAY APRIL 23rdMrs. David Ramsay, whose maiden name was Christena Elizabeth Gordon, was born September 22, 1865 in Mitchell County, Iowa. She was baptized December 25th the same year and was confirmed at St. Ansgar, October 31, 1880
On November 15, 1890, she was married to Mr. David J. Ramsay at Northwood, Iowa. To this union the following children were born: Clarence Allen; Selma Ninette; Deola Laverne; Florence Elva; and Ralph Gordon Ramsay.
In addition to her husband and children Mrs. Ramsay is survived by the following near relatives: Three sisters; Mr. L. J. Smith, Minot, North Dakota; Mrs. John Johnson, Meltonville, Iowa; Mrs. H. C. Pennock, Williston, North Dakota; three brothers; Ole A. Gordon, Carpenter, Iowa; Peter Gordon, Rose Creek, Minnesota; Will Gordon Fort Pierre, South Dakota.
Mrs. Ramsay had a severe siege of illness three years ago but survived and regained moderate health and vitality. On return of her trouble which was perilous anemia, this year, she did not respond to treatment and died quietly Friday, April 23, at 11:40 a.m.
The funeral was held Monday, April 26, from the Deer Creek Lutheran Church one mile north of Carpenter, Rev. M. E. Waldeian of St. Ansgar officiating and her remains were laid to rest at the cemetery near this church.
Present at the funeral from away were: Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Smith, Monot, North Dakota; Mrs. H. C. Pennock, Williston, Nor Dakota; Peter Gordon, Mabel and Purl, Rose Creek, Minnesota; Mr. Will Gordon, Ft. Pierre, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Ramsay, Marble Rock, Iowa; Mrs. Rob Robertson, Blooming Prairie, Minnesota.
