Obituary

Leo was born in Ghent, Minnesota, on October 7, 1917 to Nick and Rose (Wallrich) Streit. In 1921, the family moved to a farm outside of Stacyville where Leo grew up, lived and farmed for the rest of his life.

Leo married Dorothy (Falk) Meek, a widow with two young sons, on May 1, 1954. Over the next ten years they added five additional boys to their family. Leo was a true and loving father who was equally proud of all seven of his sons.

Leo was a devoted husband, a loving father and especially loved being a grandpa and great-grandpa. He was admired for his great work ethic and ever-present cheerfulness and humor. He was a grain and livestock farmer, licensed electrician, member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of the Foresters. Leo enjoyed woodworking, fixing things in his workshop and passing his knowledge on to his sons.

Leo is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his sister, Therese Johnson; sons Bob Meek (Greta); Nick Streit (Sue); Tom Streit (Linda); Paul Streit (Linda); Ted Streit (Diane); daughter-in-law Becky Meek; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Leo in death are sons Edward Streit in 1962 and Michael Meek in 2011; brother John Streit; and sisters Esther Russell and Marcella Koenigs.
