MITCHELL WOMAN KILLED IN ARIZONA

Osage, Iowa – Mitchell County residents learned Sunday of the accidental death of Mrs. L. R. Dockerty, Mitchell, who was killed Saturday evening at Buckeye, Arizona, where she was vacationing.

Mrs. Dockerty and her husband, a retired rural mail carrier, were vacationing at Buckeye, with their home near her brothers, Clarence Vosburgh. They have vacationed yearly there. The brother was on a business trip to Oklahoma at the time of the accident. News of the death came to their only daughter, Ruth, instructor in the Osage high school.

It was Mrs. Dockerty’s custom to walk nightly to her brother’s home, and it is presumed that she was struck by a car. Ruth attempted flight reservations, but weather conditions were not favorable, so she left by train Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Dockerty was born and reared at Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a member of Unity Club, PEO, DAR and Congregational Church, Osage.

Survivors include her husband, daughter, brother and sisters.
