Funeral services for George W. Glassel, 65, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital in Osage, Sunday, January 1, 1956, were held January 4, at the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Carl T. Wuerffel officiating.

George William Glassel, son of the late Edward and Emma (Hasse) Glassel, was born December 31, 1890, in Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa. He was baptized in early infancy at St. John's Lutheran church in Rock Creek and was confirmed April 2, 1905 in the Lutheran church at Grafton by the Rev. J. Landeck.

He was united in marriage with Elisa Feldt October 5, 1913, in Grafton. This union was blessed with one son, Marvin, who died June 1, 1948 at the age of 22.

Following their marriage they moved to their home where they resided for 36 years. Mr. and Mrs. Glassel were members of the Grafton Lutheran church until they joined Immanuel Lutheran in St. Ansgar in 1950. Mr. Glassel was a kind neighbor and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed good health until December 14. After attending his brother's funeral he suffered a stroke that evening at 8 o'clock from which he never rallied. He died New Year's Day at 3:30 p.m. at the age of 65 years and one day.

Survivors are his wife, one sister, Alice (Mrs. Wesley Graper), one nephew, Russell Glassel of Mason City, and a host of friends and relatives.

Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery in Grafton.
