Funeral services for Joseph Brumm, 63, of Stacyville were held Thursday morning, September 15, at the Visitation church in Stacyville. The Rev. Fr. Arthur Halbach of Loras College in Dubuque, nephew of Mr. Brumm, officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Fr. Bertram Kalb, the Rev. Fr. Victor J. Hintgen, and the Rev. Fr. J.G. Schmitz. Burial was made in the Visitation Cemetery at Stacyville.
Mr. Brumm died on September 12, 1949, at the Mercy hospital in Mason City after a heart ailment. He had been in the hospital about two weeks.
Joseph Michael Brumm was born march 4, 1886, at Stacyville. He lived his entire life in the Stacyville community. On May 10, 1910, he was united in marriage to Sophia E. Halbach and eleven children were born to this union.
Surviving are ten children, Mrs. Gilbert (Martha) Weber, Herbert, Ralph and Othmar of Stacyville; Mrs. Clyde (Genevieve) Lindberg of Rochester; Edward of Los Angeles, Calif.; Joan of Mason City; and Albert, Clarence and Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ann) Kleespies, Jr. of Osage. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Peter Halbach of Charles City, Mrs. Nick Halbach of Stacyville and Mrs. Anna Weber of St. Paul, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his wife, last year, and by a daughter, Adelaide, who died at the age of one.
