Bertha (Thon) Wambeam – May 26, 1862 – February 11, 1948

BERTHA WAMBEAM

Funeral services were being planned Thursday for Bertha Wambeam, 85, who died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Augustine Nursing Home, 416 South Street, following a lingering illness.

She was born May 26, 1862 in Dane County, Wisconsinn, the daughter of Iver and Isabel Thon. She was married to John K. Wambeam in 1885, in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Surviving are one son, Harry of El Paso, Texas; two sisters; Carrie Culbertson of Carpenter, Iowa; Anna Culbertson, Northwood, Iowa; and one cousin; Mrs. Esther Melrose, 413 Belmont Street.

Her husband and one son, Clarence who was killed in France in World War I, and two brothers preceded her in death.

The body is at Kearns Garden Chapel pending arrangements.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kearns Garden Chapel for Bertha Wambeam, 85, who died Wednesday night at Augustine Nursing Home, 416 South Street, following a lingering illness.
Doctor Gilbert A. Cox, pastor of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Kensett Cemetery, Kensett, Iowa.
