Marthe Larsdatter Forland FJELDE

Martha (Marthe) Larsdatter Forland was born February 21, 1831 at Strand, Rogaland, Norway to Lars Povelsen and Ingeborg Tostensdatter of Torreland. She was baptized on March 3, 1831 at Strand, Norway. Birth/baptismal record found at the Norwegian Digital Archives online for Strand in Strand, Rogaland, Norway, 1816-1833, page 71, entry # 6.
Marthe was confirmed in 1845, confirmation record at Norwegian Digital Archives online for Strand in Strand, Rogaland, Norway 1834-1854, page 291, entry # 6.
Marthe married Peder Olsen Fjelde on March 23, 1852 at Strand, Norway. The couple had 11 children (names listed below).
Family emigrated to Iowa in the spring of 1872. Emigration record leaving Norway at Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Strand in Strand, Rogaland, Norway 1855-1881, page 350 (right side of pages), entries # 3 through 12: Peder O Fjelde, Marthe Larsdatter, Inger, Ole, Berte, Edvard Torgrim Lauritz, Endre, Lars, Marte, Peder (born March 10, 1872). Family arrived at Quebec, Canada on May 21, 1872 after traveling on the ship "Brodrene". (Record found on Ancestry.com); ship's listing: Peder Olsen Fjelde age 46, Martha Larsdatter age 38, son Ole 17, daughter Inger 19, daughter Bertha 15, son Edvard 12, son Endre 9, son Lars 6, daughter Martha 3, son Peder 1 month.
The family traveled on to Mitchell County, Iowa and lived with relatives until buying farmland.
Found in the 1880 to 1905 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Peter Field 57, Martha Field 50, Ole Field 25, Edward Field 19, Andrew Field 17, Lars Field 15, Martha Field 10, Emalia Field 6, Peter Field 3.
1885: Peter O Tjelde 60, Martha Tjelde 57, Edward Tjelde 24, Andrew Tjelde 22, Louis Tjelde 18, Martha Tjelde 16, Amelia Tjelde 11, Peter Tjelde 8.
1900: Peder Fjelde 75, Martha Fjelde 69, Peder Fjelde 23.
(Censuses transcribed as found without fixing spelling errors.)
After Peder's death, Marthe went to live with a daughter in North Dakota. She died on November 5th (or 15th?), 1915 at Park River, Walsh, North Dakota, after a battle with stomach cancer. Her body was returned to Iowa to be buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

7. Lars (Lewis) Pedersen Fjelde (born April 17, 1866 Strand, Norway, died July 3, 1946 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa, buried at Manly, Worth, Iowa).
8. Marte Pedersdatter (born December 1, 1868, married Aaron Levin at Park River, North Dakota, died November 15, 1941 Park River, North Dakota);
9. Peder Pedersen Fjelde (born March 10, 1872 Strand, Norway, died September 24, 1872 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, buried at RCLC Cemetery).
10. Petra Emelia Fjelde (FAG # 70658437).
11. Peder Pedersen Fjelde (born September 1, 1876 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died September 24, 1949 Ann Arbor Washtenaw, Michigan.)
There are conflicting birth and death dates for Marthe, her gravestone says her birth was February 22, 1830 which conflicts with birth records found at Norway; death dates of the 5th and the 15th have also been found.
