TUFF, GLUMSRUD, JOHNSON, BRUNSVOLD, THORSON

Mrs. Kari Tuff, nee Glumsrud, was born at Gol, Hallingdal, Norway, February 20th, 1825. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran congregation at that place. On May 4th, 1847, she was married to Knud N. Tuff.

This union was blessed with nine children of which five are still living. They are: Mrs. Bertin Johnson, Northwood, N.D.; Mrs. Olaf Brunsvold, Ray, N.D.; Mrs. T.K. Thorson, St. Ansgar, Iowa; Mr. Olaf Tuff, Rudell, Minn., and Mr. Kundt Tuff, Andover, Minn.

Besides these she leaves also two aged sisters in Norway, 89 and 93 years old, and twenty-one grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren living. Her husband died May 4th, 1909.

In 1871, Mr. and Mrs. Tuff emigrated to America and settled near Carpenter, Iowa, where they lived until the fall of 1905, at which time they made their home with their daughter, Mrs. T.K. Thorson.

Mrs. Tuff was taken ill on the 27th day of last February. On March 2nd she was stricken with appoplexy and died on March 11th at the age of 91 years and 21 days.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. M.E. Waldeland at the Norwegian Lutheran church, and her remains were laid to rest at the Norwegian Lutheran cemetery north of St. Ansgar.
