Peder (Peter) Pedersen Fjelde (Field) was born September 1, 1876 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Peder Olsen Fjelde and Martha Larsdatter, their eleventh and youngest child and the second son to be named Peder. His older brother Peder had died as an infant in 1872, not long after emigrating to America.
Believe he was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Peder would have graduated from high school in Mitchell County, Iowa and must have attended and graduated from a college as censuses state he became a math professor at the University of Michigan as an adult.
Peter married twice. First to Olga Olson in 1900; they had one son, Peter Fritchoff Field (born December 1914 Michigan, died March 12, 1961) and a 2nd time in 1947 to unknown female.
Found in the 1880 to 1905 censuses living at Cedar, Mitchell, IA:
1880: Peter Field 57, Martha Field 50, Ole Field 25, Edward Field 19, Andrew Field 17, Lars Field 15, Martha Field 10, Emalia Field 6, Peter Field 3.
1885: Peter O Tjelde 60, Martha Tjelde 57, Edward Tjelde 24, Andrew Tjelde 22, Louis Tjelde 18, Martha Tjelde 16, Amelia Tjelde 11, Peter Tjelde 8.
1900: Peder Fjelde 75, Martha Fjelde 69, Peder Fjelde 23.Records on Ancestry.com also find him applying for a passport in 1908 and traveling by ship to Norway in his sixties.
Found in the 1910 - 1930 censuses at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw, Michigan:
1910: Peter Field 33, Olga Field 29.
1920: Peter Field 43, Olga Field 39 [34], Peter F Field 5.
1930: Peter Field 53, Olga Field 49, Peter F Field 15.Peter Field died September 24, 1949 at Ann Arbor, Washtenaw, Michigan but did not find where he is buried. Rock Creek cemetery records do not show him buried there.
