Hans Finsand was born February 22, 1875 to Tosten Olsen Finsand and Margarethe Halvorsdatter at Rock, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, the third of their twelve children. Hans was baptized on May 2, 1875 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Hans Gulbrandsen, Jorgen Anderson, Randi Eriksdatter and Jorand Endresdatter. Hans was confirmed also at RCLC on June 8, 1890.
Found in the 1880 census living at Rock, Mitchell, IA: T. Fendsand 43, Margaret Fendsand 33, Olivia Fendsand 8, Hans Fendsand 5, Peter Fendsand 3, Christian Fendsand 1.
Found in the 1895 census at Cedar, Mitchell, IA: Hans Finson age 20.
Hans married Elisabeth Isaacs on August 9, 1896 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 2 daughters:
Nora Johanna (born April 3, 1897 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, married Gilman Irvine Horgen, died June 29, 1985 Koochiching, Minnesota) andRuth Theresa (born June 12, 1898 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died before 1910 at Mitchell, Iowa).
Hans lived at Cedar township, Mitchell, County, Iowa after marrying at least till 1899.

1898: Hans Finsand sold his buggy, harness, and horse for $50.00. Mr. Finsand is having an addition built to his house since his family will be making their home there this winter. In 1899, the paper states that Hans bought another mule. Mrs. Hans Finsand and children are now with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac. She will leave for North Dakota this spring, where her husband is preparing their future home.Found in the 1900 census at Superior, Douglas, Wisconsin: Hans Finsand age 25, single, working as a railroad laborer, born Feb 1875 Iowa to Norwegian parents but no mention of marriage or children. (Not 100% sure this is the same Hans)

1910 census for his wife Lisabeth says she is divorced.
September 12, 1918: Registered for WW1 draft at Imperial, Calfornia, working as a ranch hand, contact was his sister, Mary Finsand.
Found in the 1920 census at Seattle, King, Washington: Hans Finsand age 44, working on a dairy farm, says widowed. (Not 100% sure this is the same Hans)
Found in the 1930 census at Plumas, California: Hans Finsand age 50, hired man.
Hans Finsand died September 21, 1942 at Colusa, Colusa, California.
