Christian Tosten Finsand was born October 22, 1878, at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa to Tosten Olsen Finsand and Margarethe Halvorsdatter, the fifth of their twelve children. Christian was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on November 17, 1878. His baptismal sponsors were: Tideman Tidemansen and wife; Ole Iversen and Olia Olsen. He was confirmed at the same church on April 1, 1894.

The family moved from Rock township to Cedar township and lived in a house in the woods directly across Rock Creek from the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. Christian never married nor had any children.

Found in the 1880 census living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: T. Fendsand 43, Margaret Fendsand 33, Olivia Fendsand 8, Hans Fendsand 5, Peter Fendsand 3, Christian Fendsand 1.

Found in the 1895, 1900 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1895: Christine Finson age 16.
1900: Torsten Finsand 63, Magrethe Finsand 53, Peder Finsand 23, Chrestian Finsand 21, Martin Finsand 19, Maria Finsand 17, Oscar Finsand 12, Theodor Finsand 9, Annie Olsen 78.

Found crossing the border to emigrate to Manitoba, Canada on March 15, 1919, reason: to join his brother in farming.

Found in the 1930 census at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Magaret Finsand 83, Peder Finsand 54, Christian Finsand 52, Martin Finsand 50, Theodore Finsand 39.

Christian Finsand died December 29, 1959 at Charles City, Floyd, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek, Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
