Carl (Karl) Field (Fjelde) was born August 13, 1887 at Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Ole Peder Fjelde (1855-1941) and Inger Olson (1848-1938), the youngest of their four sons. His older brothers were:
Oscar O. Fjelde (born February 9, 1882 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died April 11, 1953 same);
Peter Fjelde (born December 7, 1883 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died November 6, 1969 Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa); and
Martin Field (Fjelde) (born August 31, 1885 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, died January 19, 1979 Mitchell, Iowa.)

Carl was baptized on October 16, 1887 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Iowa and later confirmed at same. His family used the surname Fjelde but changed to Field.

Carl married Martha Kristine Nubson on June 30, 1909 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. They had no children. Carl was a prominent farmer in Cedar township his entire life.

Carl Field died January 19, 1979 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

1910: Carl Field 22, Martha Kristine Nubson Field 26, Thomas Gilis 28.
1915: Carl Field age 27.
1920: Carl Field 33, Martha C Field 36.
1925: Carl Fied 30, Martha C Fied 41.
1930: Carl Field 42, Martha N Field 46, Herbert C Christianson 21.
1940: Carl Field 51, Martha N 56.
