Brita (Betsey) Eriksen was born 1841 at Norway to Julia and (probably) Simon Eriksen.

Brita emigrated with her parents (or maybe just her mother) to Mitchell County, Iowa.

First married a Rasmus G Jonasen (or Johannesen). (Haven't researched Rasmus but believe he died soon after marriage and they had no children.)

Brita next married Lars (Lewis) Helgeson Johnson on May 26, 1868 at Cedar Township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

The couple had 3 children:
Gunhild Jorging (1869-1956);
Hanna Emilia (1870-1961); and
Ole Johan (1872-1956).

Found in the 1870 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Lewis (Lars) Johnson 35, Betsey Johnson 29, Corneliu (should be Gunhild) Johnson 1, Julia Erikson 64, Peter Christianson 20 (hired man).

Brita died February 6, 1876 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
