Funeral services were conducted for Mrs. Carrie Thorson at her home at 1:30 p.m. and at the First Lutheran church in St. Ansgar at 2:00 o'clock on May 26. The obsequies were in charge of the Rev. Olaf A. Langehough. Burial was in the First Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Carrie Thorson was born on September 14, 1857 in Gal, Hallingdal, Norway. Her parents were Knut and Carrie Tuff and she was the fifth child in a family of nine children. She was baptized by the Rev. Kjerulf on October 4, 1857.

In the spring of 1872 she emigrated to America with her parents, brothers and sisters. They came to St. Ansgar, Iowa, and after a short stay here, located on a farm west of Carpenter, which was then virgin soil. On October 5, 1872 she was confirmed by the Rev. C.L. Clausen at St. Ansgar.

On April 19, 1881, she was united in marriage to T.K. Thorson. They settled on a farm in Newburg township and lived there until 1896 when they moved to the present home in Otranto township. Four children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death in 1927.

Mrs. Thorson had enjoyed good health most of her life and was active until about six months ago. On May 18 complications set in from which she did not rally and she passed away on May 22, 1947 having reached the age of 89 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Surviving are three children, Clarence and Selma at home and Luella (Mrs. Elmer Erickson) of Pulaski, Wis., four grandchildren and one great grandchild, also several nieces and nephews.
